UConn’s Facilities Operations Department has four job openings for Skilled Trades Apprentice (HVACR) positions. These positions will receive on-the-job training and vocational education to complete the requirements of a QCW HVACR job classification within a period of time normally not to exceed two years. The Skilled Trades Apprentice (HVACR) job classification requires a Heating/Piping/Cooling license and refrigerant recovery certification to be obtained normally within the two-year period. The Heating/Piping/Cooling license and refrigerant recovery certification must be maintained throughout employment with the University once promoted to the QCW HVACR job classification.
These Skilled Trades Apprentice (HVACR) positions are permanent, full-time, 1st Shift positions, 37.5 hours/week, with a work schedule of Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The hourly salary is $24.01 and is non-negotiable.

These positions are categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. Must be willing and able to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that effect campus operations. Applicants must also be willing to respond to emergencies on overtime (nights, weekends, and holidays). Please note that Facilities Operations NP-2 employees may also be required to perform job duties as assigned at any of the Regional Campuses
