Mechanical & Plumbing
This group consists of the HVAC and Plumbing Shops. In addition, a small 2nd Shift provides full 24x7 service maintenance coverage for the University.
The Mechanical Trades’ group sustains, operates, and services all building related mechanical and electrical components such as non-Central Utilities Plant chillers, cooling condensers, and boilers; air handling and refrigeration equipment; piping systems and associated pumps and accessories; domestic water booster pumps, domestic water heaters & components, and backflow preventers; toilets, fixtures, sinks, water fountains, etc.; ejector and storm water pumps; the building system controls, meters, control system infrastructure, terminal devices, and components such as valves, coils, and dampers; switchgear, electrical panels, motor control centers, building lighting, exterior lighting, transformers, surge devices, grounding and lightning systems, generators, transfer switches; and science equipment such a fume hoods, central reverse osmosis systems, and central science utilities such as vacuum pumps, air compressors, and distributed gas systems.
The Mechanical Trades group completes upwards of 21,000 work orders annually.
